Open Source program
We rely daily on open-source software, and we want to help support the ecosystem. If you run an active FOSS project that needs macOS infrastructure for compiling, testing, or CI runners and pipelines, we can provide you with a dedicated Mac mini for free.
What we provide
- Dedicated Mac hardware: A recent Apple Silicon based Mac Mini hosted in our EU data center
- Bare Metal control: Full root access to configure it for your builds, testing, or CI/CD pipelines exactly to your liking.
- Support: Knowledge and support to help you with challenges of macOS infrastructure
- Bandwidth and Storage for your projects artifacts
Eligibility
To ensure our hardware goes to projects that genuinely need it and align with the spirit of FOSS, we look for the following:
- 100% Free and Open Source: Your project must use an OSI-approved license. We do not sponsor 'open core' models or heavily monetized projects.
- Actively Maintained: We look for active and established projects with engaged maintainers and community.
- Clear Use Case: You need to specify why your project requires macOS infrastructure and outline your technical requirements.
What We Expect
There are no strict requirements or any strings attached.
- Mentions: If you find the hosting useful, a mention in your
repo, documentation, or on social media is appreciated, but it is completely optional. - Showcases: We may highlight or publish about your project and ask if you would like it featured in a brief showcase on our site.
- Annual Review: We will check in with you once a year to ensure the project is still active and that the hardware is still being utilized.
How to Apply?
If this sounds like a fit for your project, send us a brief application. You can reach us at open-source@greenmini.nl. Sponsorship spots are limited. We review all applications carefully, but please understand that we cannot approve every request.
